Key issues in the development of Eurasian economic integration were discussed by participants at the thematic session "Eurasian Economic Integration: Challenges and Prospects," which took place on May 29 in Astana as part of the 5th Eurasian Economic Forum.

Representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, heads of economic ministries, development institutions, and scientific experts from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union took part in the discussion.

Participants in the discussion noted the global processes of economic transformation and the associated challenges for Member States and the Union as a whole. These include changes in global trade rules, the restructuring of global supply chains, rising prices for raw materials and food, and the intensive development of technologies related to digitalization, robotics, and the introduction of artificial intelligence. The speakers paid special attention to the economic potential of the EAEU in the new realities.

Daniyar Imanaliev, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, elaborated on significant results of the Union's operations, key areas of the long-term Eurasian agenda, and opportunities for Member States amid global economic changes.

The EEC Minister emphasized that the Eurasian Economic Union has proven its ability to effectively respond to external challenges, ensure stable mutual trade, and strengthen cooperative ties between Member States.

"The EAEU has established itself as an effective mechanism for addressing key challenges facing our states, businesses, and citizens. We have maintained the intensity of mutual trade flows, launched a mechanism for financing industrial cooperation, and strengthened our common market. Today, the Union is one of the poles of economic attraction on the international stage,” stated Daniyar Imanaliev.

He also pointed out that, given the development of digitalization, artificial intelligence, and robotics, EAEU countries need to strengthen their work in these areas.

“Our common goal is to accelerate technological development within the Union. All the necessary potential and tools are available for this,” the EEC Minister emphasized.

Daniyar Imanaliev expressed confidence in further productive cooperation between Member States and noted the importance of the active participation of the expert and scientific community in the development of integration processes within the EAEU.
