Gohar Barseghyan, Minister in charge of Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission, moderated the session “The Role of EAEU Countries in Shaping International Agricultural Markets” as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Representatives of public authorities, businesses, industry associations, and the expert community discussed the prospects for developing the agricultural sector of the Eurasian Economic Union States, strengthening cooperative ties, and expanding the presence of the EAEU countries’ products in global markets.
Gohar Barseghyan emphasized the importance for the Member States to consolidate their efforts to improve the competitiveness of the agricultural sector, develop cooperative projects, and establish sustainable value chains.
The event attendees paid particular attention to developing the rural sector’s export potential, adopting state-of-the-art technologies, and establishing efficient mechanisms of international cooperation. It was mentioned that the EAEU countries had substantial resource and production potential, enabling them to strengthen their presence in the global system of agricultural production and food security.
The session participants confirmed their interest in further deepening integration interaction in the agricultural sector and developing joint approaches to entering new international markets.
Following the discussion, the participants identified key areas of cooperation that will contribute to strengthening the EAEU position as a major player in the global agri-food market.
