The Heads of Government of the Eurasian Economic Union countries have instructed to ensure practical readiness to implement the provisions of the Protocol amending the Treaty on the EAEU Customs Code in terms of regulating foreign e-commerce by January 1, 2027.

Nowadays, the Protocol has already been ratified by Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan; the document is expected to come into force upon receiving the final instrument of ratification by the Eurasian Economic Commission.

“The key innovation of the amendments to the EAEU Customs Code is the classification of goods purchased through foreign e-commerce into a separate category, specifying its regulatory aspects,” reminded Andrey Slepnev, the EEC Minister in charge of Trade.

Due to the amendments made to the EAEU Customs Code, extensive work is being carried out to establish the regulatory framework for implementing the new regulations in practice, including the preparation of the Member States' national legislation and information systems.

Thus, along with the entry into force of these amendments, a uniform customs duty rate of 5%, but no less than 1 euro per kg, will apply to most e-commerce goods, and the duty-free import threshold will be set at 200.
