As Maxim Reshetnikov noted, despite the challenges faced by the EAEU States in 2022, a significant decline in key macroeconomic indicators was avoided. He focused on the main priorities of the Russian presidency and the mechanisms for their implementation.
The key issue included the discussion of approaches to developing and content of the Main Directions of Economic Development of the EAEU States until 2035.
According to Sergei Glazyev, EEC Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, this strategic planning document will determine promising areas of long-term economic development common to all the EAEU States, based on the integration of their competitive advantages and scientific and technical potentials. Adopting the document will enable the States to obtain additional economic effects from integration.
The meeting attendees discussed approaches to the draft content. The document is expected to be submitted to the EAEU Prime Ministers in May 2023.
The meeting was attended by Vahan Kerobyan, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, Alesya Abramenko, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, Ilyas Userov, Vice Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Daniyar Amangeldiev, Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, and Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, as well as Sergei Glazyev, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Consultations of the Heads of the EAEU Member States’ Ministries of Economy involving the EEC representatives have been held since 2019 to discuss relevant matters of the Union’s economic agenda.
