As part of their working visit to the Republic of South Africa, Nikolay Kushnarev, Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Armen Harutyunyan, Director of the EEC Agricultural Policy Department, visited the Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (SEZ) – the first automotive city in Africa and an industrial center that accounts for 40% of South Africa's automotive manufacturing.

During the negotiations with Bheka Zulu, Chief Executive Officer for the SEZ, the EEC delegation discussed the possibilities of attracting investors from the Eurasian Economic Union countries as residents of the South African SEZ.

Besides, Nikolay Kushnarev and Armen Harutyunyan discussed relevant matters of industrial cooperation and the potential for joint production in the agricultural sector with Tasneem Motara, Minister of Economic Development for the Gauteng Province, who presented in detail the strategic partnership results between the private and public sectors in managing and implementing the SEZ, as well as the tax incentives and exemptions granted by the authorities to investors.

"The experience of successful implementation of the Tshwane SEZ clearly demonstrates the existing industrial and technological capabilities and advantages that can contribute to integration with the EAEU industrial sector, increase in value-added production and regional economic development," Nikolay Kushnarev noted.
