Transition period of amendments to technical regulation for drinking water to end on December 31, 2022

The Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board approved the procedure for enacting amendments to the EAEU Technical Regulation "On safety of packaged drinking water, including natural mineral water".

Earlier on October 5, 2021, by Decision No. 97 of the EEC Council, some amendments were made into Annex No. 1 to the Technical Regulation to clarify the upper limit of the boron content (in terms of orthoboric acid) in the Bornaya water (for therapeutic table water being 35.0 — 100.0 mg/dm3, and for therapeutic mineral water exceeding 100.0 mg/dm3), which came into effect on May 7, 2022.

A transition period has been established until December 31, 2022 to ensure a smooth transition of manufacturers to such a classification. Before this date, the packaged drinking water can be manufactured and released into circulation without regard to adjustments made for boron (as it was manufactured earlier). Such products can be circulated during the shelf life established by its manufacturer.
