On September 30, within the 3rd Eurasian Economic Forum in Yerevan, a round table Infrastructure and Logistics in Agriculture: Modern Challenges and Solutions was held with the participation of Gohar Barseghyan, Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The EEC Minister emphasized particular importance of timely and efficient supplies for food security and trade development in the context of disrupted production cycles and supply chains in the global market. The Union's trade in agricultural produce and foodstuffs has more than doubled since its establishment, while exports have grown almost threefold.

During the discussion, the participants discussed the status and importance of infrastructure and logistics for the production and export of agricultural produce, including by small and medium-sized enterprises of the EAEU Member States, ensuring free transnational movement of agricultural goods, as well as potential projects in this area.

"To maintain the competitiveness of the agricultural sector of the Union Member States, there is a clear need to develop sustainable food systems based on increased self-sufficiency in agricultural produce and foodstuffs, transparent and accelerated logistics and modern infrastructure. Realizing the importance of the issue, the Commission pays special attention to addressing this area and coordinating efforts of the EAEU states to build efficient supply chains," Gohar Barseghyan emphasized.

The participants drew attention to the need for continuous dialogue and successful interaction between government agencies and business communities regarding the development of physical and digital infrastructure of the agricultural sector in the EAEU space.
