Temirbek Asanbekov and Erkinbek Osoev, Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, discussed prospects for fulfilling EAEU transit potential

The issues of fulfilling the EAEU transit and logistics potential were discussed by EEC Minister Temirbek Asanbekov and Erkinbek Osoev, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic, at a meeting held during the EEC delegation’s visit to Kyrgyzstan from March 24-25.

The EEC Minister has noted that "the current time's realities increase the importance of in-depth discussion of relevant matters of the Eurasian integration". The sides agreed to hold a panel session in the field of transport to be held within the Eurasian Economic Forum scheduled for May 26-27 in Bishkek simultaneously with the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Council of Heads of Authorized Bodies in the Field of Transport of the EAEU Member States.
The session will be devoted to implementing the EAEU transport policy as well as its key goals and prime objectives for developing the Euro-Asian ties and mobility. "Following the session, it is planned to adopt a resolution of the heads of transport agencies. This will be a confirmation of our intentions to join efforts of international organizations and announced initiatives for developing transport, transportation and logistics in a global format", the EEC Minister summed up.

In this regard, Temirbek Asanbekov invited Erkinbek Osoev, Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, to take part in the upcoming events. The Kyrgyz colleague confirmed his attendance.

The meeting attendees paid special attention to the issues that have a direct impact on developing the EAEU countries’ transportation industry: developing the Eurasian transport corridors, extending air services, cabotage transportation of goods, creating conditions for increasing transit volumes, in particular, using navigation seals in road and rail transport, transiting to the use of electronic documents and border crossing issues.

The meeting was also attended by Dauren Sabitov, Director of the EEC Transport and Infrastructure Department, who informed representatives of the Kyrgyz side on the Department’s activities, achievements and prospects of the sector-specific work.
