Prodexpo 2023: export potential for Union's organic products discussed

As part of the plenary session and panel discussion "Developing Sales of the Russian Organic Products: Domestic and External Demand" at the International Exhibition for Food, Beverages and Food Raw Materials "Prodexpo 2023", Armen Harutyunyan, Director of the Agricultural Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, informed on creating the EAEU common market for organic products as well implementing by the Commission, jointly with the Union States, of the roadmap activities for its formation.

 

  The EEC representative shared information with the discussion attendees on preparing the draft Agreement on the recognition of organic products within the Eurasian Economic Union. The signing of the document will become the starting point for free circulation of organic products throughout the EAEU. Besides, he noted the key regulatory provisions included in the draft of this new international treaty.

 

"The steps we are taking today to develop the Union’s demand for organic food products, as well as the export potential for organic products, are of utmost importance", Armen Harutyunyan stressed. "It is important to continue work on raising consumer awareness of the human health benefits of organic products, popularizing their consumption, and harmonizing requirements in the field of organic production with international standards. Interstate cooperation on mutual recognition of organic farming systems is of prime importance to ensure free trade in organic products".

 

The Exhibition’s business program traditionally opened with a discussion on organic products organized by ANO "Roskachestvo". This year, the event addressed a wide range of issues – export potential and an increase in domestic demand for organic products, an organic consumer image, support measures for developing the organic market, control and supervision in circulation of organic products, etc.

The plenary session of Prodexpo 2023 business program was devoted to key changes in the Russian food market. Armen Harutyunyan, as the meeting’s speaker, took part in the discussion of increasing productivity, import substitution and quality improvement in the food industry, providing food producers with raw materials, equipment and components, as well as the development of logistics chains and new export directions.
