During an open session of the joint meeting of the Committee on Technical Regulation of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) and the RUIE Commission on Developing Radio Electronic and Electrical Engineering Industries held in Saint Petersburg, Maksim Kim, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Economic Commission's specialized Department, told about the Eurasian Economic Union's activities in the field of technical regulation.

The EEC representative reported on the work being done by the Commission in these areas including updates to requirements of the Union's technical regulations and lists of standards in electrical engineering and radio electronics.

"The mechanism for developing and adopting technical regulations, establishing document databases for assessing and controlling compliance with their requirements, their accessibility to users, assessment of the scientific and technical level of mandatory requirements — all this is governed by the Union's law," Maksim Kim pointed out.

He emphasized that to date, the Commission jointly with the EAEU countries has developed and adopted 52 Union's technical regulations, 48 of which are effective; there is an ongoing work to establish and update the evidence base.

In particular, Maksim Kim emphasized the standardization matters: "Over a thousand advanced interstate and national standards in electrical engineering and radio electronics are included in the EAEU evidence base. These documents are almost 90 percent harmonized with international standards."
