The Eurasian Economic Commission's Council has decided to set the rate of import customs duty of the CCT EAEU in respect of certain types of anid yarns (code 5402 19 000 1 of the CN FEA of the EAEU) at 0% for the period up to and including April 30, 2027.
"The customs tariff regulation measure is aimed at supporting cord fabric manufacturers, as well as tire industry enterprises," noted Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the EEC Tariff and Non-Tariff Customs Regulation Department. "The decision will make it possible to improve profitability and reduce the cost of finished products, as well as enhance the competitiveness of domestic technical fabrics in both internal and external markets, creating conditions for their import substitution in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union".
Vahagn Ghazaryan also emphasized that at present the EAEU countries have no production of these anid yarns. The demand for these goods is satisfied by imports from far-abroad countries.
The Decision shall come into effect after 10 calendar days have elapsed from the date of its official publication.
Engineering fabrics made of anid yarns are used in the engineering industry (in motor vehicle industry, aircraft construction, shipbuilding, railway industry, etc.), as well as in construction, agriculture and in the production of specialized clothing. Cord fabric, in particular, is used as a multi-layer carcass in the manufacture of pneumatic tires, giving the finished product greater resistance to heat aging and strength, which reduces tire wear and increases tire mileage. The specific properties of anid cord fabric make it indispensable in the manufacture of truck and large-size tires used in severe road conditions, as well as tires for high-speed motor cars.
The import customs duty of the CCT EAEU in respect of anid yarns is set at the rate of 5% of the customs value. In accordance with a number of the EEC Council's decisions, the zero rate was applied in 2017-2022 on a temporary basis.
