On June 9, the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board adopted the recommendation “On Qualification Requirements for the Most In-Demand Occupations and Positions in Inland Water Transport”.

The adopted recommendation establishes approaches to general and specialized requirements for the professional knowledge and skills of inland water transport personnel, taking into account varying qualification levels and the specific nature of different types of work.

“The EAEU Member States have the opportunity to take these recommendations into account when shaping their national policies. The implementation of such recommendations falls within the competence of each country and is performed in accordance with national legislation, priorities, and specific national circumstances,” mentioned Arzybek Kozhoshev, the EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure.

The implementation of the recommendation is aimed at facilitating the shaping of a common market for water transport services in the EAEU area.
