These matters were discussed at the 30th meeting of the EEC Advisory Committee on Transport and Infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the EAEU authorized authorities, civil society organizations, industry unions and the expert community.
The event was also attended by representatives of Observer States at the EAEU from the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Cuba.
The event participants discussed the current situation caused by a reduced period of temporary stay in the Russian Federation for drivers who are citizens of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic engaged in road freight transportation.
The meeting noted that at the moment prompt action is being taken to resolve the situation.
Also, the event reviewed the progress in implementing the Comprehensive Plan for Developing the Eurasian Transport Corridors: agreed draft target indicators, certificates of Eurasian transport corridors (routes) and minimum requirements for them. These documents will be considered at the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Authorized Transport Bodies.
Advisory Committee Members also reviewed the analysis of measures taken by the EAEU countries to develop railway, road and port infrastructure being part of the Eurasian transport corridors (routes), the outcomes of implementing priority integration projects in the field of transport infrastructure, as well as best international practices in using emerging technologies to develop international transport corridors (routes) and recommendations on their use.
In prospect, it is planned to create a pool of infrastructure projects that can be implemented involving third countries. The procedure for creating such a pool will be worked out additionally.
The parties also discussed sectoral aspects of development in light of the transport policy being implemented.
Specifically, they reviewed a road map for implementing the concept for improving the interoperability of smart transport systems of the Five countries within the EAEU, approved lists of information and documents required to obtain special overweight and (or) oversize as well as dangerous cargo permits.
The Committee was also presented the outcomes of integration efforts on railway transport following which it adopted a recommendation on simplifying the procedures affecting the movement of passengers who are citizens of the Member States by rail within the Union and on developing Eurasian tourist routes with the use of the rail transport of the EAEU Member States.
The Advisory Committee considered the promotion of cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as proposals prepared by the Transport and Infrastructure Department on organizing the activities of the Subcommittee on Cooperation in the Field of Transport and Transit established as part of implementing the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU and Iran.
The proposals cover a wide range of issues concerning freight transportation through the territory of Iran, as well as the development of transport and logistics infrastructure along the routes of the North–South international transport corridor, including operations of border crossings and enhancement of terminal infrastructure.
The decisions taken by the Advisory Committee will be presented to the Council of Heads of Authorized Transport Bodies at its next meeting.
