The five countries will draft a Strategy for Developing the Greater Eurasian Partnership based on the results of the business forum in Bishkek

On May 26, the capital of Kyrgyzstan played host to the First Eurasian Economic Forum preceding the session of the Supreme Economic Council. This year, the mantle of holding the event has been passed to the Kyrgyz Republic as the country chairing the EAEU. For this time, Bishkek has become a business center for the Eurasian five countries. The major business event brought together in Bishkek more than 2.5 thous. participants from 25 states, including non-CIS countries. The new areas and trends of cooperation in the Union space were discussed by representatives of businesses and state authorities, the top officials of the Eurasian five countries and delegates of international, scientific and educational organizations interested in the development of interaction within the economic association.

Topics of six panel discussions were issues related to macroeconomic stability at turbulent times, the promotion of economic activity using financial instruments, the development of industry and the agricultural sector, energy and transport infrastructure as well as the introduction of digital technologies. Individual blocks of discussions were dedicated to the promising areas of business development in new realities, the tourism industry and the role of youth in integration processes.

EEF 2022 became a venue for a total of 39 events, including 21 thematic sessions and the exhibition of the EAEU countries' best agro-industrial goods with the participation of more than 50 companies of the EAEU countries. On the sidelines of the Forum, 17 programs and bilateral contracts were signed in various areas.

"Landmark agreements include the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Implementation of the Joint Project of the Union States on Performing the Expedite Rail and Multimodal Transportation of Agricultural Products and Food "Eurasian Agroexpress." Thanks to this project, the first tons of agricultural products will be delivered from the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation during the days of the Forum already. At the Forum, the EEC and Eurasian Peoples' Assembly have signed the Program of Strategic Partnership until 2025. The EDB and the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic have concluded a Memorandum on the Joint Implementation of the Project in the Field of Digital Transformation. In addition, the five countries have agreed on cooperation in the Internet trading sphere, which is especially important for ordinary citizens. Agreements have been signed on the development of electronic trading platforms and the procurement system," Iya Malkina, official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission, reported, summing up the EEF 2022 results at the press conference in Kabar News Agency.

The plenary session of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Bishkek took place with the participation of Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, and Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board. The leaders of the EAEU States discussed prospects for developing the Union in the era of global transformations and gave their opinion on economic integration in the Eurasian space.

"The most interesting ideas were announced on the sidelines of the plenary session. It is impossible to leave out the proposal of Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, on creating a comprehensive Strategy for Developing the Greater Eurasian Partnership. In support of this idea, Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the EEC Board, proposed to draft a long-term program of the Union's economic self-sufficiency. An initiative was put forward to create interstate arbitration to help the business people of the Member States resolve disputes. Moreover, attention should be given to the proposal by the Russian Ministry of Energy to construct new and expand current pipelines. This is particularly important for South Asia. It is possible to organize power flow from Siberia to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, which will iron out all problems and become an element of efficient integration use," Iya Malkina reported the agreements reached.
