Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation to take part in work of Commission on Import Substitution in High-tech Economic Sectors

High priority measures to ensure stability of the Eurasian Economic Union States’ industrial complexes in the new economic environment were discussed during a working meeting between Artak Kamalyan, EEC Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture, and Dmitry Kurochkin, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The sides discussed the need for early introduction of concessional mechanisms for financing industrial cooperation involving the EDB and the EFSR, ensuring priority access of national products to procurement within large investment projects with state participation in the Union’s territory, as well as supplying the EAEU machine-building complex with critically relevant import assemblies and components.
"The Commission and the Union States actively work in this direction. The issues of financing industrial cooperation and the development of possible options to meet the Member States’ needs for critical import goods have already been included in the first package of measures to improve economic stability of the Eurasian Economic Union States", Artak Kamalyan noted. “We will discuss financing issues at a meeting of the Commission’s Board in May".
The sides agreed to further discuss the issues of financing industrial cooperation within the panel discussion "Main Directions of Industrial Cooperation: Key Trends, Implementation Tools, Challenges and Risks" to be held at the venue of the Eurasian Economic Forum in May in Bishkek

As for providing the EAEU machine-building complex with critically relevant import assemblies and components, the EEC Minister has informed business representatives on creating a Commission on Import Substitution in High-tech Economic Sectors initiated in accordance with the instruction of the EEC Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. According to Artak Kamalyan, a relevant decision should be adopted at the EIC next meeting. Provision of critical import goods will be one of the first issues on the Commission's agenda. The EEC Industrial Unit is ready to invite the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation to the first meeting of this working body.

Besides, Artak Kamalyan proposed to discuss initiatives put forward by the RF CCI at the meeting of the EAEU Industrial Policy Council scheduled to be held on July 4 within the 12th International Industrial Exhibition "Innoprom" in Yekaterinburg.
