Program for developing interstate standards for main pipelines approved

The Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board has approved a Program for developing interstate standards to technical regulation for the main pipelines for transporting liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons. It provides for developing 33 interstate standards until 2027. The Republic of Kazakhstan (4 GOST standards) and the Russian Federation (29 GOST standards) have been appointed as responsible developers.

Nowadays, the requirements for designing, constructing, operating and disposing main pipelines for transporting liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons at the national level of the EAEU Member States can be found in national standardization documents (standards and regulations) approved prior to adopting the unified EAEU Technical Regulation "On requirements for main pipelines for transporting liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons" (EAEU TR 049/2020). These documents need to be revised to be harmonized with the technical regulation and approved as interstate standards.

The draft Program includes standards containing requirements for the design, construction and operation, rules and methods of testing and measurements, including rules of sampling, as well as other standards required for applying and satisfying the technical regulation’s requirements.
