The document was elaborated to implement an Action Plan for increasing the Union States’ self-sufficiency for vitally important medicinal products and pharmaceutical substances, the manufacture of which should be provided in the EAEU, until 2024, approved by the Heads of Government of the Member States in November 2021.
Besides forming the list, the Plan includes such activities as studying the organization of co-production of vaccines, drafting proposals for financing cooperative projects in manufacturing medicinal products and pharmaceutical substances, addressing the issues of applying customs and tariff regulation measures, etc.
It bears reminding that the Action Plan for increasing the Union States’ self-sufficiency for vitally important medicinal products and pharmaceutical substances was elaborated by the Commission to prevent further development of the pharmaceutical crisis in the Union countries associated with both the COVID-19 pandemic and other threats to the EAEU pharmacare.
"In view of complicated geopolitical situation and new economic challenges, forming such list of medicines will be a significant step towards ensuring the Union’s medicine safety", Artak Kamalyan, Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture, commented on the meeting’s outcomes.
