EAEU started practical work on Data Turnover Agreement

Issues of drafting an Agreement on general principles and rules of data turnover within the Eurasian Economic Union were considered at the first meeting of the high-level Working Group on digital transformation in the EAEU chaired by Varos Simonyan, EEC Minister in charge of Internal Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies.

The Working Group’s prime objective is to prepare draft Agreement on data turnover, including issues of personal data protection as well as to consider other proposals and initiatives as part of implementing the EAEU digital agenda.

"Nowadays, "big data", the turnover and protection of such data are essential to increasing the interoperability of digital projects and ensuring digital sovereignty. This calls for creating modern legal conditions aimed at regulating data turnover and protection in the Union to efficiently implement the Eurasian digital agenda. We have to elaborate draft Agreement on data turnover. Simultaneously, we will address related issues, as data is the "blood" of modern economy", Varos Simonyan noted.
The meeting attendees discussed the need to create a network of expert platforms as well as active involvement of competence centers on digital development of the Union participating countries.
