The EAEU has implemented joint educational projects in the agricultural sector

The outcomes of implementing joint educational course of the EAEU countries on breeding and seed production of sugar beet were summarized by Armen Harutyunyan, Director of the Agricultural Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The project involved the best teachers of 4 agrarian universities of the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation. More than 150 students gained systemic knowledge ranging from crop cultivation technology to the formation of individual genetic passports of genotypes and legal regulation of the issue in the Eurasian Economic Union countries. Besides educational institutions, representatives of the industry business, science and associations took an active part in training the students.

Owing to the involvement of the real economy and academia, 18 students of the "Sugar Beet Breeding and Seed Production" course had an opportunity to undergo practical training at leading and systemic companies.

This educational project was the fifth since the governing bodies in charge of agricultural education in Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Russia signed a Memorandum on developing interaction between the EAEU countries in the field of personnel training for the manufacturing industry and agricultural sector in 2021.

In total, teachers from 19 leading universities have shared their best practices and accumulated knowledge with more than 850 students. Joint educational courses on topical issues in the agricultural sector have been successfully implemented.

In particular, along with the project on breeding and seed production of sugar beet, the Eurasian educational workshops on cultivation of valuable fish species in recirculating aquaculture systems, as well as the prospects of applying state-of-the art technologies and innovations in industrial breeding and selection of poultry were held in the current academic year.

Experienced teachers from 14 educational organizations in Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Russia acquainted 335 students with technological features of fish breeding, animal selection and breeding work, as well as digital technologies in aquaculture.

The Eurasian course on poultry farming involved 10 leading educational and research centers of the Member States. It was attended by more than 220 students of universities, as well as experts of the agrarian industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the project there was an exchange of experience and achievements in the field of innovative technologies to improve the productivity of poultry, including molecular genetic methods in breeding, economic efficiency of poultry production, including organic, and the use of digital services in poultry farming.

"The EAEU countries have both scientific developments, advanced enterprises, talented youth and competent teachers who are ready to transfer the accumulated knowledge. Implementing joint educational courses provides us with a unique opportunity to combine these key components and obtain a synergetic effect. I believe that today we are taking an important step in training skilled specialists to ensure the efficient functioning of the agricultural sector," Armen Harutyunyan noted.
The joint project participants confirmed their intentions to strengthen the partnership system established in the EAEU and to disseminate best practices of cooperation in organizing the Eurasian educational courses on other relevant topics of agricultural development.
