The Eurasian Economic Commission hosted consultations on discussing possible cooperation between electronic trading platforms (marketplaces) of the Eurasian Economic Union countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The meeting participants (representatives of the major marketplaces of the parties) noted that today e-commerce is a prominent driver for growth of intercountry trade turnover, confirmed their interest in implementing partnership in e-commerce, as well as discussed possible formats and avenues of cooperation and the potential of technology integration.

"The EAEU States and Iran have a significant potential for developing cooperation in the field of e-commerce given that its turnover in our countries grows rapidly every year. Interaction of businesses in this field will facilitate creating a barrier-free trade environment," stressed Askat Bekov, Deputy Director of the EEC Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation Department.
