Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Chairman of the EEC Board, took part in the event opening ceremony.
According to the Head of the EEC Board, the Commission's Jubilee Spartakiad became a true celebration of sports bringing together a large number of participants.
"The Spartakiad is not just a contest and promotion of a healthy lifestyle, it is a strong unifying factor. It is pleasing that we all are one tight-knit team," stressed the Chairman of the EEC Board.Today, over 400 Commission's employees have come to try their strength in a fair contest, including rooters representing the five countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. The interest in the event was unwavering despite gloomy weather. Many participants were warmly supported by their children on this day. Among the participants were both the champions of previous competitions and newcomers.
Over the five Spartakiad years the number of disciplines including team and individual sports has increased to 26. These are futsal, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, chess, darts, cross-country race, relay race, tug-of-war, as well as strength sports (push-ups, pull-ups, kettlebell lifting), etc.
The EEC Spartakiad games showcased tough competition of equals. The participants demonstrated a high level of training and broke records of previous Spartakiads in a number of disciplines.
The competition results will be announced in the coming days. However, all Spartakiad participants can be rightfully considered winners for the strength, endurance and team spirit they displayed.
