Union creates working group to implement digital infrastructure within ecosystem of digital transport corridors

A decision was adopted at a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board on December 21 to form a Working Group on coordinating the project "Creating an information and communication showcase of national services of the EAEU ecosystem of digital transport corridors".

Varos Simonyan, EEC Minister in charge of Internal Markets, Informatization and ICT, was appointed Head of the Working Group. The Regulations on the Working Group on project coordination and its composition which included representatives of the Union countries’ authorized authorities were approved during the meeting. One of the Working Group’s main objectives is to determine principles of work and organize interaction with leading experts in the course of project implementation.

"Creating such a digital solution will give a new impulse to developing transport and transit potential, will ensure the formation of a single transport and logistics market based on using digital tools, which will enable propelling the EAEU countries’ trade to the next level", believes Maksim Gall, Assistant to the Chairman of the EEC Board.
According to him, the Commission, jointly with the Union States, has gone to considerable lengths and now the coordination group should form the principles of a common technical and technological policy, approve draft terms of reference and proceed to practical implementation of the project.

Transiting to ecosystem-based digital solutions should provide the Union countries with a solid technique for increasing the efficiency of processes in real economy, increasing competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets as well as creating conditions for next stages of the Eurasian integration.

During the project implementation, basic frameworks and digital infrastructure will be created as well as legal aspects will be perfected for subsequent formation of the EAEU ecosystem of digital transport corridors. The project provides for creating a number of standard prototypes of services and technological solutions. They include a digital map and database of major highways and infrastructure facilities of international transport corridors passing through the territories of the Member States, a service for booking roadside furniture facilities, a service for booking queues at the automobile border-crossing points of a Member State and others.

The information and communication “showcase” of national services will provide the required level of awareness and further coordination of participants in the transportation process with due regard to the technological readiness of national services. As a result, a seamless digital transportation process will be formed and conditions will be created for developing an open and favorable information and communication environment within the Euro-Asian continent.
