Following the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) held on May 29 in Astana, a decision was made to begin negotiations on amending the current Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union, its Member States, and the Republic of Serbia.
These negotiations are needed with a view to resolve difficulties in confirming compliance with the so-called “dropshipping", the fulfillment of which is mandatory for receiving tariff preferences under the said Agreement.
"We believe that this work will help optimize the Agreement's requirements for documentary support of goods supplied in both directions, which will facilitate the simplification of mutual preferential trade conditions with our Serbian partners," noted Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and its Member States, on the one part, and the Republic of Serbia, on the other part, was signed on October 25, 2019 and came into effect on July 10, 2021.
In accordance with the Agreement, tariff preferences for the payment of import customs duties are granted in relation to 93% of the product range, subject to confirmation of the origin of the transported goods and compliance with other established requirements.
One of these requirements is to ensure that the goods remain unchanged during their transportation (“dropshipping”) between the parties to the Agreement, documentary evidence of which must be provided to the customs.
