Technical regulation for low-voltage equipment amended

The Eurasian Economic Commission’s Council has amended the technical regulation for low-voltage equipment. In particular, the low-voltage equipment that has been in operation is excluded from the scope of its application. The low-voltage equipment included in the scope of three technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union - for engineering products, elevators and equipment for operation in explosive environments (except for cables, wires and cords) is excluded as well.

Definitions, the scope of information to be specified in the operating documentation, and the list of low-voltage equipment subject to confirmation of compliance with safety requirements in the certification form have been clarified.

The amendments were elaborated by the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus jointly with the EAEU countries’ public authorities. The document is aimed at clarifying the scope of technical regulation, and eliminating doubled provisions of other technical regulations adopted by the Union.

The amendments shall come into effect after 180 calendar days have elapsed from the date of official publication of the EEC Council's decision.

The EEC Board will adopt a special decision to establish transitional provisions for applying documents on conformity assessment issued before enacting the amendments. The transition period will be set with due regard to the accepted practice.
