Compliance with competition rules in seed markets discussed by Public Information Office's participants

A meeting of the Public Information Office of the Competition and Antitrust Regulation Unit was held on March 29. The event was held online with broadcasting on the Commission's You-Tube channel. Representatives of the EEC Agricultural Policy Department were invited to participate in the event, especially for the business community representatives.
The meeting attendees considered issues related to the Commission's powers to suppress violations of competition rules in transboundary seed markets. Alexei Sushkevich, Director of the EEC Antitrust Regulation Department, presented the results of studying the competition in these markets. He has emphasized that the markets are highly competitive, with a large number of "players". The Commission has closely studied the contracts entered into by this market participants and drew attention to the unjustified provisions on exclusivity, in particular the territories for the resale of goods.

Following the event, Zhanar Adikova, Director of the Commission's Department for Competition and Public Procurement Policy, informed that all questions received from entrepreneurs would be considered and posted on the Competition Unit's webpage in the "Public Information Office" section. Questions not related to the field of competition will be sent to the EEC Economy and Financial Policy Unit, responsible for entrepreneurial development, for further exploration.
