A meeting of the Working Group on improving the procedure for customs operations in respect of express cargo and international mail was held under the chairmanship of Sergei Vladimirov, Director of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Department of Customs Legislation and Law Enforcement Practice.
The event was attended by representatives of public authorities and the business community, including postal operators and express carriers.
“The Protocol on amendments to the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union is being ratified now and may come into effect at any time. The EAEU countries should be ready for this,” Sergei Vladimirov noted. “Along with that, simultaneously with enacting the amendments to the Code, a number of Commission’s decisions, including the decision relating to the form and procedure for filling out the declaration for e-commerce goods, should start to be applied.”
The event continued to discuss the mentioned draft decision of the EEC Board. In general, some arrangements were reached at the expert level on the form of the new customs declaration and the procedure for filling it out. The proposals of postal operators received during the public discussion of the draft within the regulatory impact assessment (RIA) procedure were discussed to develop optimal solutions and adapt the business to the new conditions.
