The EEC continues training seminars on technical regulation issues for Uzbekistan's state authorities

Under the joint action plan of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Commission for 2021-2023, the Commission held a seminar for the specialists of the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation and other interested representatives of Uzbekistan's state authorities.

"These seminars are important and much needed as they are aimed at information sharing with our Uzbek colleagues about the main aspects of the Union technical regulation system," Lily Maksudyan, Deputy Director of the Technical Regulation and Accreditation Department emphasized. "They contribute to harmonizing our approaches in the field of technical regulation and help our colleagues get acquainted with the practical experience of applying product requirements established in the Union."

The seminar provided the information on common mandatory requirements to products and addressed the relevant matters related to conformity assessment, accreditation, the imposition of trade remedies in the Union, supervision over compliance with product safety requirements in the EAEU and the development of the project "Digital Technical Regulation within the EAEU."

The representatives of the Technical Regulation Department​ and the authorized authorities of the Union countries replied to the questions of interest for Uzbek colleagues, particularly regarding the practice of applying the provisions and mechanisms of confirming the conformity of imported products before entry at the customs border, the experience of the EAEU countries in adopting the efficient methods and procedures to prevent the importation of products not conforming to established requirements, and the procedures of releasing the products into circulation in the Union market in modern realities. They also touched upon issues related to accreditation, state control, product registration and interaction between the state authorities of the Union countries.

Abdurauf Abdukayumov, Deputy General Director of the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation, thanked the EEC for the information provided and cooperation that would help in understanding Uzbekistan's further steps in work on the harmonization of legislation in the field of technical regulation in accordance with the EAEU requirements as this field was one of priorities in interaction between Uzbekistan and the Union.

The sides agreed to hold such seminars on a regular basis with the aim of exchanging experience and raising awareness of work in the field of technical regulation in the EAEU and Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan was created on the basis of the Uzbek Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Certification in accordance with Decree No. UP-6240 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan 'On the Dramatic Improvement of State Administration in the Field of Technical Regulation' dated June 2, 2021.

Being a legal successor of the Uzstandard agency's rights and obligations under all agreements, including international treaties, the Agency is a republican body of state administration for implementing state policy in the field of technical regulation and metrology.
