Intergovernmental Council supported Uzbekistan's participation in work on EAEU individual projects

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council welcomed the initiative announced by the Republic of Uzbekistan to extend participation in the Eurasian Economic Union’s activities in areas of mutual interest. Along with that, the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board, jointly with the Union countries, was instructed to draft a procedure that will describe the format and algorithm of interaction on individual projects with the Observer States at the EAEU.

"Uzbekistan has expressed interest in working in four areas: issues of the climate agenda, digitalization of freight rail transportation, e-trade as well as implementing the Eurasian Agroexpress project", noted Andrey Slepnev, EEC Minister in charge of Trade.
Besides, he reminded that at the meetings of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held on October 14, 2021 and December 10, 2021 Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, proposed to intensify cooperation in the interests of increasing mutual trade.

The Observer State status at the EAEU was granted to the Republic of Uzbekistan in accordance with Decision No. 14 of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council dated December 11, 2020.

The total trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the Member States increased by more than 2.5 times from 4.5 bln dollars to 11.6 bln dollars in 2016-2021.
