The Section performs the following functions:
1) performs expert assessment of monitoring results and appeal processing for the signs of barriers;
2) takes action to identify and designate barriers as eliminated;
3) ensures creation and maintenance of the barrier register;
4) participates in developing methodological foundations for dealing with barriers;
5) ensures that interested persons are informed about removing barriers;
6) monitors decisions adopted by the Commission's Board on qualified barriers;
7) participates in establishing a regulatory framework for settling disputes (mediation) arising from ensuring internal market functioning and from identifying any specific evidence (cases) of barriers;
8) prepares materials for the Commission's Board to apply to the Court of the Union on issues within the Section’s jurisdiction;
9) interacts with the Commission’s structural subdivisions and public authorities of Member States on issues within the Section’s jurisdiction.
