EEC and media of EAEU countries discussed joint work on eve of the EEC's 10th anniversary

During their meeting with representatives of the leading mass media of the EAEU countries, Daniyar Turusbekov, Director of the EEC Organizational Support and Protocol Department, and Iya Malkina, Commission's official representative, Assistant to the Chairman of the EEC Board, discussed the plans for information support of the Eurasian Economic Commission's activities for 2022 on the eve of the EEC's 10th anniversary. The meeting took place on December 22 at the EEC's headquarters.

Opening the meeting, Daniyar Turusbekov thanked the assembled journalists for their active work in covering the Commission's activities amidst difficult conditions of the pandemic and expressed hope for even more fruitful cooperation in the future in a face-to-face format.

"I want to thank you for the work done in 2021 to highlight the issues of Eurasian integration. We have held a prodigious amount of joint events. According to the information and analytical system "Medialogia", in 2021 the number of references to the EAEU exceeded 250 thousand, while the publications covered almost 540 million people, and the EEC is mentioned in 52 thousand messages with an audience of 380 million people. On the eve of the EEC's 10th anniversary, we look forward to closer cooperation with you. The year will be very eventful," Daniyar Turusbekov informed.

According to the Director of the Department, the Commission is always open to media representatives and will continue to adhere to the chosen direction for close and mutually beneficial cooperation in the information sphere.

Iya Malkina, official representative of the Commission, also drew the audience's attention to the fruitfulness of the journalists and Commission's joint work and invited the media representatives to exchange views on expanding further work in the information sphere, express their wishes, and discuss new possible directions in covering the EEC's activities.

"During 2021, we tried to cover official events as much as possible, held briefings, and also intensified our presence in social networks. I would like to hear your opinion on how to efficiently organize work with journalists so that we can promote specific economic topics as widely as possible – the current economic agenda of the EAEU countries," Iya Malkina addressed the journalists.

During an hour-and-a-half communication, the event participants discussed the priority tasks facing the Eurasian Economic Commission and the media for the next period and exchanged views on a wide range of mutual cooperation areas – from the difficulties of organizing work in a pandemic to the use of modern technological solutions when covering particular events.

Many of the journalists' proposals were supported by the EEC representatives. In particular, on the eve of the upcoming chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan in the EAEU authorities in 2022, Mirbek Moldakunov, correspondent of the First Public Channel of the Kyrgyz Republic (KTRK), proposed to open a permanent column on national television dedicated to this event.

Editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Soyuz. Belarus – Russia" Olga Gerasimenko came up with an initiative to create a roadmap for the edition's interaction with the Commission in terms of regular coverage of integration processes within the "five".

The EEC representatives promised to promptly work out these and other initiatives, stressing that the Commission is ready to ensure all-round support to journalists by providing relevant materials, speakers and experts.

At the end of the meeting, an official ceremony took place where the media representatives were granted the EEC accreditation cards for work at the Commission events.
