Georgy Arzumanyan, Deputy Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in a round table organized by the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy to discuss the issues of technological sovereignty of the Russian Federation in the implementation of infrastructure projects in the special equipment market.
In the course of discussions, the participants considered topical issues of the special equipment market, state regulation of the industry, existing support measures and their effectiveness, as well as developed proposals for the development of special equipment production and its localization in Russia.
According to Georgy Arzumanyan, special machine building has a significant cooperation and export potential and has been identified as one of the priority economic activities for the development of industrial and scientific-technical cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union countries.
"Implementing the import substitution strategy by each EAEU State when taken separately is less efficient, since the limited capacity of the countries' internal markets prevents achieving the effect of scale and competing with global leaders in certain types of products on equal footing. As for special machine building, it is one of the priority areas for the development of industrial cooperation of the Union countries," emphasized the representative of the EEC industrial block.
In this regard, Georgy Arzumanyan proposed to include in the draft recommendation of the round table as a topic for consideration by the Government of the Russian Federation the issue of creating conditions for the involvement of manufacturers of the EAEU countries in cooperation chains of production of specialized machine building products, including information about the application of the mechanism of financing industrial cooperation to increase the share of goods produced in the EAEU countries in the Union market.
