Procedure for enacting amendments to technical regulations on food products approved

The Eurasian Economic Commission's Board approved the procedure for enacting amendments to the Customs Union's technical regulations on food safety. These are technical regulations on food products, as well as on certain types of food products: fat and oil products, milk and dairy products, meat and meat products, fish and fish products, poultry meat and poultry products as regards to establishing maximum permissible levels of residual content of veterinary medicines in food products.

The Commission's Board has determined a 18-month transition period from the date of enacting (July 10, 2024) the amendments adopted by Decision No. 70 of the Commission's Council dated June 23, 2023. During this period food products may be produced and put into circulation in the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union in accordance with the mandatory requirements previously established by these technical regulations. Along with that, such products are permitted to circulate in the Union's market during their shelf life established by the manufacturer.

The established transition period will have a positive impact on the business environment. Sufficient time is provided for gradual preparation of manufacturers, persons authorized by manufacturers and sellers (suppliers) of food products of animal origin to comply with the new requirements for goods introduced in technical regulations in the field of food safety with regard to establishing maximum permissible levels of residual content of veterinary medicines in such products.
