Agrarian universities and EAEU countries' business community to train specialists in sugar beet breeding and seed production

On 16 November at 11:00 am, the opening of the joint educational course "Sugar Beet Breeding and Seed Production" will take place. The educational project, organized under the coordination of the Agricultural Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, is the result of joint work between the heads of a number of universities and representatives of the business community in Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

The relevance of the educational course is beyond all question, given the import dependence on sugar beet seed with a high potential for developing its own breeding and seed production base in the EAEU countries. In this regard, it is necessary to train skilled personnel to provide the industry with high-yielding seeds.

In order to train practice-oriented specialists, representatives of the sector-specific business and science will participate along with leading teachers of agrarian universities. In particular, as part of the course opening, the first lecture will be given by Alexander Pryanishnikov, Director of the Crop Breeding and Seed Production Department of JSC Shchelkovo Agrochem, Doctor of Agricultural Science and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He will familiarize students with the results of the company's work in adaptive breeding.

This project will be the third since signing the Memorandum on developing interaction between the Eurasian Economic Union Member States in the field of personnel training for the manufacturing industry and agricultural sector dated 2021.

The event will be held via videoconferencing at the following address: 2, Letnikovskaya St., bld. 2, Moscow.
