The EEC Minister in charge of Trade emphasized that the parties achieved significant progress in agreeing on the draft future agreement. According to him, the objective is to ensure mutually beneficial conditions of preferential treatment with maximum trade coverage between the EAEU countries and Indonesia.

Besides, according to Andrey Slepnev, it is important to promote interaction between the parties' business communities for efficient implementation of the future agreement.

The decision to start negotiations with the Republic of Indonesia on a free trade agreement was adopted by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on May 27, 2022. Four rounds of negotiations have taken place so far.
