As part of the fourth meeting of the Joint Commission for implementing the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the People's Republic of China, Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held a meeting with Guo Zhuxue, Director General of China Railways.

They discussed the implementation of the roadmap for developing the EAEU-PRC trade and economic cooperation in terms of digitalizing freight rail transport. It was noted that the activities of the relevant section are implemented in accordance with the stipulated timeframes. In particular, the parties have generally achieved a high level of data quality and completeness in the electronic exchange of information between rail carriers.

"Nowadays, agreements between the railroad companies are in a high degree of preparation, which will make it possible to move to a new level of cooperation. We also consider new promising areas of interaction," Andrey Slepnev noted.

Furthermore, the parties discussed in detail the access of high-quality agricultural products of the EAEU Member States to the PRC market, as well as possibilities to expand logistics routes within the "Eurasian Agroexpress" project.

 The initiative to implement the EAEU Member States' joint Eurasian Agroexpress project for accelerated rail and multimodal transportation to develop regular mutual deliveries of agricultural products and food, as well as export deliveries in the Asian and European directions was supported by Disposition No. 3 of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council dated February 25, 2022.

The total volume of shipments by the Eurasian Agroexpress exceeded 450 ths tons in 2023. The key items in the cargo base were oil and fats, fruit and vegetables, canned goods, grain legumes, as well as chicken and beef meat.
