The EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure Arzybek Kozhoshev participated in the thematic session Global Energy Interconnectivity and Transition for SDGs under the auspices of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO). In his speech, the EEC Minister focused on the situation of the fourth energy transition to sustainable energy through an increased use of renewable energy sources and their integration into everyday life.
"Each transition entails significant changes for the energy system. This is due to a new combination of resources used, changes in the structure of the system, its scale, as well as the need to establish a new energy policy," said Arzybek Kozhoshev. The EEC Minister said that in order to meet growing energy demand and ensure a fair energy transition, the EAEU countries needed a diversified energy structure as well as sustainable supply chains. At the same time, there is a need for closer technological cooperation.
During his speech Arzybek Kozhoshev also highly appreciated the role of GEIDCO in ensuring global interconnectivity of energy systems, shaping and promoting the project for developing clean and alternative energy sources.
"We look into GEIDCO's achievements in the field of energy with great attention, as these issues are also relevant for the Eurasian Economic Union," said Arzybek Kozhoshev, indicating interest in establishing working contacts and dialog.
