Arzybek Kozhoshev, EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, held a working meeting with Denis Moroz, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus, on the sidelines of the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum. During the negotiations, the two sides considered relevant matters of establishing and developing the common electric power market and the common gas market of the EAEU.
The two sides noted that the leaders of the Eurasian Five countries have made a conceptual decision on the gas market and now the countries are tasked with preparing a plan for its development.
It was also emphasized that in order to launch the common electric power market (CEPM), it is necessary to finalize the form of the accession agreement as soon as possible. This is the last document of the package required for the CEPM to operate.
During the visit, the EEC delegation also visited the facilities of the united energy system of the Republic of Belarus, including in Brest, and explored the technology behind electric power generation, best practices and technologies.
"Stable operation of the energy system in terms of ensuring the modernization of energy sources and grid infrastructure, in line with global trends and technologies, is the key to successful functioning of the Union's common electric power market," noted Arzybek Kozhoshev.
