As part of his working visit to Minsk on September 10, Arzybek Kozhoshev, EEC Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure, held a working meeting with Igor Petrishenko, Member of the EEC Council and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus.
The sides discussed the progress in establishing a common gas market and common markets for oil and petroleum products in the Eurasian Economic Union, including the harmonization of draft international treaties on gas and oil.
“Adopting the treaties will make it possible to initiate the process of further improvement of the mechanisms of common market functioning in the specified directions, and create conditions for a more flexible economic policy in the common markets,” Arzybek Kozhoshev emphasized.
The EEC Minister informed the meeting attendees about the work done on establishing the common markets for gas, oil and petroleum products, noting the need for further concentration of efforts to adopt decisions on unagreed issues.
The Commission has prepared and agreed with the sides two reports on the progress of establishing the EAEU common energy markets for 2023: on the gas market and on the markets for oil and petroleum products. The information will be submitted for consideration at the EEC Council's next meeting, Arzybek Kozhoshev noted.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the agreed version of the draft roadmap for implementing transport policy for 2024-2026 to consider the document at the EEC Council's meeting on September 24. The EEC Minister noted that it should be adopted as soon as possible. An additional round of negotiations will be held on activities with differences of principle and mutually agreed solutions will be worked out.
