Bakytzhan Sagintaev: "Modern financial market is a driver of the economy's ecological transformation"

Minister in charge of Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakytzhan Sagintaev delivered a welcoming speech at the International Conference titled "ESG - a new paradigm for financial market development", which was held on November 16 in Almaty.

Today, the issues of sustainable development and the formation of a green economy are especially relevant, which is the most in demand even in the context of the global crisis observed in 2022.

The EEC Minister noted that, despite the turbulence, the ESG agenda is not receding into the background, only the conditions are changing. Problems such as global warming, food crisis, and social inequality not only do they disappear, but are getting worse. All these are challenges faced by the state, business and society.

"The modern financial market acts as a certain driver of the ecological transformation of the economy, stimulates and orients its participants to reduce the negative impact on the environment and preserve the ecosystem," Bakytzhan Sagintaev emphasized.

Together, green factors will act as a powerhouse for increasing growth rates, competitiveness and investment attractiveness of the economies of the EAEU countries.

"The Eurasian Economic Commission is prepared to cooperate with all parties interested in the implementation of the ESG agenda in the Eurasian space, and is ready to provide its platform for discussing and promoting these topical issues," said Bakytzhan Sagintaev.
