The Eurasian Economic Commission's Board has amended the Decision on determining over-the-counter categories of medicinal products. The general criteria for classifying medicines as over-the-counter are supplemented by special criteria for certain active substances. This approach makes it possible to ensure over-the-counter sale of medicinal products, if the manufacturer takes into account the risk factors specific to the active substance, and to expand the list of medicines available for sale without a prescription.
The Commission has amended the format for indicating the production date and expiration date of a medicinal product prescribed by Recommendation No. 2 of the Commission's Board dated February 26, 2020. It is permitted to use the most flexible date formats indicating the month and year of expiration in order to take advantage of pharmaceutical manufacturers' opportunities. In this case, the expiration date is the last day of the month indicated in the coding line.
