EEC and ASEAN discussed implementing joint action program until 2025

The attendees exchanged their views on August 6 within the Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the level of senior officials, held on July 31 — August 7 this year in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The Eurasian Economic Commission was represented by Dmitry Yezhov, Head of the International Interaction Section, Integration Development Department.

Some positive trends in contacts at the working and official levels, as well as a stance for deepening cooperation, in particular in exchanging best integration practices with an emphasis on developing the EAEU and ASEAN digital agendas were noted.

"The EEC has established a dialogue with key economic associations in different regions of the world and is open to exchanging best integration practices. The high level of integration within the EAEU and ASEAN makes such work of these two structures maximally substantive and aimed at practical results. This contributes to efficient and prompter implementation of their own plans for strategic development, which is of particular importance in present-day developments", the EEC representative stressed.

Given the appreciation for the EAEU-ASEAN Business Dialogue held in June this year on the sidelines of the SPIEF, the sides expressed their readiness to increase the frequency of joint events, including at the venues of international organizations.

Dmitry Yezhov held working meetings on the sidelines of the Summit with the officials of national delegations of Cambodia and Thailand, discussing the implementation of memoranda previously concluded by the EEC and the governments of these ASEAN Member States.
