EEC and PRC State Administration for Market Regulation extend cooperation in standardization and conformity assessment

"Technical regulation mechanisms contribute to ensuring free movement of goods and reducing technical barriers to trade, which will also contribute to transiting to a new stage of interaction between the Eurasian Economic Union and the People's Republic of China", stated Timur Nurashev, Director of the Technical Regulation and Accreditation Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at a bilateral meeting on standardization and conformity assessment held via videoconferencing with representatives of the State Administration for Regulation Market (SAMR).

"It is of great importance for us to ensure interaction in these fields with external trade partners outside the Eurasian Economic Union. It not only enables evaluating the level of requirements to products and its assessment procedures under international requirements, as well as helps remove unnecessary technical barriers to trade," Timur Nurashev stressed.

The attendees compared notes on the policy conducted by the EAEU and the PRC in the field of standardization and conformity assessment, and the SAMR representatives shared their experience on practical mechanisms being applied in the PRC to eliminate technical barriers using the example of executed agreements in this field.

The sides agreed to hold such working meetings on a scheduled basis and planned to discuss at the next meeting some issues related to setting mandatory requirements to transport vehicles and chemical products and their circulation in the EAEU and the PRC market.

Xie Jun, Director General of the SAMR Department of International Cooperation, emphasized the interest in continuing a dialogue with the EEC on the issues in the field of standardization, conformity assessment, product safety control systems, etc.
