EEC and CIS Executive Committee signed cooperation plan for 2023-2025

Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the EEC Board, and Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, signed the action plan for 2023-2025 on implementing the Memorandum on Deepening Interaction between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States on February 3 in Almaty.

The plan involves implementing joint projects and events. Particular attention is paid to the removal of existing barriers in mutual trade, the development of cooperation in implementing large-scale joint projects and the economy digitalization. Consultations are also planned to lay out approaches to coupling the EAEU law and the CIS regulatory framework, including in terms of eliminating contradictions between the draft regulatory legal acts being developed in the EAEU and the CIS.

 Besides, the document contemplates promoting the involvement of young people, public associations and business communities in the processes of functioning of the EAEU and the CIS, which is focused on increasing the transparency of the two structures and greater awareness of citizens about the essence of economic integration processes.

 The document will ensure transiting to network work between the Union and the CIS, as well as fleshing out the cooperation between the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee.

The Memorandum on Deepening Interaction between the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee was signed on November 27, 2018. It provides for cooperation in customs regulation, traceability and marking of goods by means of identification, public procurement, consumer right protection, digital economy, tax policy and administration, foreign trade, competition policy and antitrust regulation as well as sanitary, veterinary-sanitary and quarantine phytosanitary measures.

The Memorandum provides an opportunity for representatives of the EAEU and the CIS authorities to attend expert group meetings held at the venues of the EEC and the Commonwealth authorities as well as meetings of advisory committees at the Commission’s Board and the CIS bodies of sectoral cooperation.
