Development and systematization of interaction of the Eurasian Economic Commission with organizations and agencies of the UN system were discussed during the working meeting between Eldar Alisherov, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC, and Li Junhua, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs. The negotiations were held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The meeting noted the EEC's efficient dialogue with the UN regional commissions — UNECE, ESCAP and ECLAC, as well as other UN organizations — on Eurasian economic integration within the framework of the concluded memoranda of cooperation.
"The established format of dialogue with UN structures allows the EEC to keep abreast of current trends in the regulation development, use the best global practices and promote the best Eurasian practices in the international arena", Eldar Alisherov mentioned.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the possibilities of EEC participation in the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in July 2025, where the Commission traditionally holds a round table on the impact of economic integration processes on the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
Following the negotiations, Eldar Alisherov invited Under-Secretary-General Li Junhua to take part in the Eurasian Economic Forum in May 2025 in Minsk.
