The event participants discussed the implementation of the Memorandum on Deepening Interaction between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the CIS Executive Committee dated November 27, 2018 and outlined ways to intensify joint work in the most relevant and demanded areas of cooperation between the CIS and the EAEU.
Gohar Barseghyan, Director of the Integration Development Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Mikhail Myskin, Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee, made reports on the results of activities to implement the Memorandum.
"The interaction between the EEC and the CIS Executive Committee is of high priority due to the practical importance of the dialogue considering economic agendas of the EAEU and the CIS intersecting in many respects.," Gohar Barseghyan noted. "The necessary infrastructure has also been created to ensure a full-format dialogue between the structural subdivisions of the Commission and the CIS Executive Committee."
According to the Director of the Integration Development Department," mutual participation in events, exchanging experience, including in targeted programs and high-tech projects development and implementation, as well as developing common approaches to emerging problem solving will contribute to the efficient development of integration processes."
Gohar Barseghyan declared the Commission's readiness to search for the most convenient models of interaction with the Commonwealth states that are not members of the EAEU to ensure the fine-tune regulation in a particular area of economic cooperation and promptly resolve emerging problems. "Thus, if individual CIS countries are interested in adapting their legal regulations to the law of the Union, the Commission can hold consultations through specialized structural subdivisions on certain aspects of adapting national legislation with the Union's regulation in the economic sphere," the Director of the EEC Integration Development Department stated.
According to Mikhail Myskin, to date, a direct dialogue has been established between the CIS and the EEC's structures on specific cooperation areas, which makes it possible to quickly exchange information and ensure that experts actively participate in the discussion of projects relevant to both structures and developed within the CIS and the Union.
The representatives of Belarus and Russia noted the need for wider involvement of the CIS states in the issue of integration processes convergence within the EAEU and the CIS.
The event was attended by representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the CIS Executive Committee, the foreign ministries of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Russian Federation.
