EEC extends term for temporary import of certain categories of goods

The Eurasian Economic Commission’s Council has extended to two years the temporary import of certain categories of goods without paying customs duties and taxes.

The deadline for temporary import is extended for goods placed under the customs procedure of temporary import from March 1, 2021 through February 28, 2022.

Relevant amendments to Decision No. 109 of the Commission’s Council dated September 20, 2019 were initiated by the Republic of Belarus and supported by the Eurasian Economic Union States to implement the list of measures on improving economic stability of the Member States, including ensuring macroeconomic stability, approved by Disposition No. 12 of the Commission’s Council dated March 17, 2022.

The decision will apply to legal relations arisen since March 1, 2022.

For reference

Setting a two-year time limit on temporary import is provided for the goods specified in paragraphs 1-17, 19-22, 24, 28, 29 and 37 of the list of goods temporarily imported with full conditional exemption from customs duties and taxes (the list of goods was approved by Decision No. 331 of the Customs Union Commission dated June 18, 2010).

A similar extension was previously established in 2020 to mitigate effects of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic when conducting foreign economic activities.
