EEC holding industry dialog with enterprises from Union countries
On May 24-25, representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Industrial Unit visited the annual congress and exhibition Syngas Nitrogen Russia and CIS during which they took part in discussing the development prospects for the synthesis gas processing industry with major producers of nitrogen, methanol, ammonia and mineral fertilizers (nitrogen, potassium, phosphate, compound ones) from Russia and the CIS countries.
"In our work, we place special emphasis on promoting the industry dialog with enterprises from Member States, particularly in the chemical industry, as no other sector can do without chemical products," stressed Nikolay Kushnarev, Director of the EEC Industrial Policy Department.
Representatives of major enterprises in the industry noted in their speeches that the main problems of the syngas processing industry were lack of qualified staff, the exit of technology and equipment licensers, as well as difficulties related to doing repairs at plants.
During the congress events the participants also repeatedly touched upon industry developments concerning low-tonnage chemicals (in particular, catalysts). EEC representatives told about the work being done by the Expert Group for cooperation in the chemical industry under the relevant Advisory Committee to analyze the rationale to form a list of low-tonnage chemical products manufactured or planned to be manufactured in the Eurasian Economic Union to consolidate the Member States' efforts in developing new types of these products and/or a list of low-tonnage chemical products needed by the Union's enterprises. Representatives of the Industrial Unit invited their colleagues to take part in the said work and emphasized that consolidated efforts of the Union's countries could play the key role in that field.

The annual congress and exhibition Syngas Nitrogen Russia and CIS is a nonpublic professional platform to discuss relevant matters of syngas processing development featuring representatives from major producers of nitrogen, methanol, ammonia and mineral fertilizers from Russia and the CIS countries, public authorities, regulatory and supervisory authorities, production technology licensers, developers, producers and suppliers of equipment, engineering, design and construction companies, technology and service providers. In 2023, over 250 participants were registered for the exhibition, most of them holding senior management positions.
