Eldar Alisherov, Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, held a working meeting with representatives of the largest marketplaces of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Eldar Alisherov informed them about the progress in ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the EAEU Customs Code in terms of regulating foreign electronic commerce and the work conducted by the Commission to prepare acts in its furtherance.
The discussion covered the most pressing issues of new regulation in this area. In particular, it touched upon common customs duty rate for e-commerce goods purchased by natural persons; a list of exempt goods that will not be cleared according to the new rules; the possibility of establishing duty-free import standards for e-commerce goods, as well as applying non-tariff and technical regulation measures to such goods.
The EEC Minister emphasized the importance of joint work of government bodies and businesses in preparing the Commission's acts on the regulation of foreign electronic commerce and confirmed his readiness to continue a constructive dialogue at the venue of the EEC Customs Unit.
