Gohar Barseghyan, “The mechanism of financial support for industrial cooperation in the EAEU is a new level of integration in the real sector”

Gohar Barseghyan, Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the plenary session of the international forum and exhibition Russian Industrialist 2024 via videoconferencing.

Gohar Barseghyan noted that the common economic interests of the Eurasian Economic Union countries promote infrastructure development for manufacturing industry partnership. An example is the newly adopted strategic document Main Directions of Industrial Cooperation for the Period until 2030, which defines the priorities for the activities of the EAEU countries in the real sector of the economy. Among them are joining efforts in leveraging the potential of the Union’s internal market, the development of industrial and technological cooperation, and interaction in export markets.

The EEC Minister also told the forum participants about the mechanism of financial support for industrial cooperation projects in the EAEU.

"This is a new level of integration in the real sector. The support measure is to subsidize the interest rate on loans and credits issued by financial organizations for the implementation of joint projects from the budget of the Union. The leaders of our countries approved unprecedented conditions for such projects – one hundred percent compensation of the key rate set by the central bank of a Member State. The new mechanism has been developed as a pilot, and the corresponding system of concessional project lending will operate in the EAEU for five years,” the EEC Minister emphasized.

Gohar Barseghyan summarized that direct dialogue with business representatives will allow reaching an understanding in resolving relevant matters of attracting participants to Eurasian cooperation projects based on mutual interest.
