30 Jun 2025 Thai entrepreneurs positively assessed prospects of operating in EAEU market At the request of Thailand's business community, the Eurasian Economic Commission, jointly with the Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow and the Thai Trade Center in Moscow, organized an online seminar "EAEU Rising Potential Markets for Thai Entrepreneurs in the Dynamic International Trade". "A developed and clear infrastructure of interaction between the Eurasian Economic Union and Thailand is established. The EEC and the Government of Thailand continue to implement the Memorandum of Cooperation concluded in 2018. There were two meetings of the joint working group. The key areas of cooperation of greatest interest are identified," told Mikael Belluyan, Director of the EEC Integration Development Department. He also noted that the EAEU-Thailand dialogue is open for businesses. Most of the events organized by the EEC, including those targeting ASEAN countries, are held for business audiences and enable direct communication between entrepreneurs. The Head of the Department noted the potentially priority areas of cooperation that could be drivers for developing the EAEU-Thailand dialogue featuring business circles. These are digitalization, industrial cooperation and food security, transport and logistics, and the financial services sector, including payment issues. In turn, Sunanta Kangwalkulkij, Director of the Department of International Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Thailand, positively assessed the opportunity of unlocking the high potential of trade and economic cooperation between Thailand and each of the EAEU states. The seminar focused on practical procedures of access to the EAEU market, trade policy, customs and tariff regulation in the Union, the potential for cooperation between the Member States and Thailand in the field of industry, transport and logistics. Representatives of Thai business circles shared positive examples of their operation in the EAEU market.
27 Jun 2025 EEF 2025 discussed potential of artificial intelligence and prospects of applying it in statistics The use of artificial intelligence in the field of statistics within the Eurasian Economic Union may become an additional impetus to strengthening the digital, technological and innovative potential of the EAEU statistical system. This idea was emphasized by Eldar Alisherov, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, in Minsk during the EEF 2025 round table "EAEU Statistics 2030: Potential and Prospects of Artificial Intelligence Application". "Successful implementation and reliable use of artificial intelligence in statistical activities requires the development of clear standards, transparency, data protection and concerted action by national statistical offices and international organizations," mentioned Eldar Alisherov. The round table participants agreed that the emergence and development of tools for analyzing statistical information based on artificial intelligence is one of the most important trends determined by the changing needs of official statistics. Artificial intelligence technologies can be applied at all stages of statistical production from data collection to dissemination of official statistics. "The current trend in sustainable development of the EAEU statistical system is the introduction of modern information technologies, including artificial intelligence, which will ensure a necessary level of operational efficiency given high growth rates of information and communication complexity of the tasks at hand," summed up Eldar Alisherov.
27 Jun 2025 EAEU and Nicaragua: mutual intention to expand contacts and intensify trade and economic dialogue On the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk, there was a meeting between the co-chairs of the working group on interaction between the EEC and the Government of Nicaragua: Eldar Alisherov, EEC Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, and Laureano Ortega Murillo, Adviser to the President of Nicaragua for Investments, Trade and International Cooperation. "By signing the 2024 Memorandum of Cooperation between the EEC and the Government of Nicaragua, we have taken our dialogue to a qualitatively new level. Our common goal is to coordinate joint efforts to increase and diversify trade and economic cooperation, exchange of experience in sectors of mutual interest, as well as to assist representatives of business circles of the EAEU and Nicaragua in establishing direct interaction," Eldar Alisherov noted. The co-chairs exchanged information on the work done by the parties since the meeting of the joint working group held at the end of 2024, emphasizing the great potential for developing sectoral dialogue. In addition, the EEC Minister noted, "Jointly addressing the task of mutually beneficial increase in trade and economic cooperation, it is necessary to get to know each other better, to eliminate the lack of information about commercial opportunities and business environment. Business is the main driver and beneficiary of our dialogue." Laureano Ortega Murillo said that the agreements reached at the previous meeting of the joint working group in Moscow are being worked out precisely in this context. He also announced that Nicaragua is looking into the issue of obtaining the Observer State status at the EAEU, which confirms its interest in further intensification of trade and economic interaction between Nicaragua, the EAEU Member States and the EEC. Eldar Alisherov responded by clarifying the procedural matters of obtaining such status. The co-chairs of the working group acknowledged that in the future it would be advisable for the joint working group to focus on the issues of technical regulation, application of sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary measures, consumer protection, pharmaceuticals and biotechnologies. Given the factor of geographical remoteness of the EAEU and Nicaragua, it is practical to pay attention to sectors that do not involve high transport costs and issues accompanying the development of digitalization and service provision. The next full-scale meeting of the joint working group on interaction between the EEC and the Government of Nicaragua is scheduled for the end of this year.
27 Jun 2025 EEF 2025 named labor migration as a resource for steady economic growth On June 26, on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum, a round table "Labor Migration as a Resource for the EAEU States Sustainable Economic Growth: Creating Conditions for Attracting and Developing Qualified and Scientific Specialists within the EAEU" was held, which was attended by Alexey Vedev, Director of the Macroeconomic Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission. He spoke about the prospects of science and technology cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union countries, noting in this regard the key importance of the Treaty on the EAEU. This document, in his opinion, is the basis for interaction in the field of science and technology. The representative of the EEC emphasized that for greater efficiency in interaction and implementation of industry initiatives within the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commission jointly with the Member States developed the Strategic Directions for EAEU Economic Development until 2025. Further work of the Union countries is built on the basis of the adopted Eurasian Economic Path Declaration on development of economic processes within the EAEU until 2030 and for the period until 2045. An action plan for its implementation is currently being prepared. According to Alexey Vedev, among the important measures stipulated in the Declaration and aimed at promoting science, technology and innovation cooperation are the introduction of innovative approaches in industry and agriculture, development of modern technologies in the field of energy and a number of others.
26 Jun 2025 Eldar Alisherov, "The EAEU sustains positive development dynamics in key economic sectors" Eldar Alisherov, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, was a keynote speaker at the round table "10 Years of the EAEU: On Challenges and Achievements" at the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk on June 26. "Over the ten-year period, the Eurasian Economic Union, which was created as a universal instrument for combining and scaling up the competitive advantages of the closest states of the post-Soviet Eurasia, has proved its efficiency and succeeded as an international integration association with an effective institutional and legal framework in line with the best international practices," Eldar Alisherov said.  He emphasized that "amidst the instability of global markets and an unfavorable global political environment, the EAEU contributes to stabilizing the macroeconomic situation in the Union countries, sustains positive development dynamics in key industries and supports economic ties established in the EAEU". Notably, the EEC Minister analyzed the ten-year dynamics of the EAEU economic indicators, which is positive. Indeed, since the creation of the Union, the aggregate GDP of the EAEU (from 2015 to 2024) has grown by 17.8%, and by almost $1 trillion in absolute terms. Total GDP growth in 2023–2024 exceeded the global average, being in the range of 4.3–4.4%. Progress has been made in improving the general welfare of the population. At purchasing power parity, per capita GDP in the EAEU in 2023 increased to 41,200 dollars from 22,700 dollars in 2015. In 2024, mutual trade in goods of the Member States increased 2.1 times compared to 2015 and reached US$97.7 billion against US$45.6 billion. The foreign trade of the Union states with countries outside the EAEU has grown 1.4 times in 10 years and amounted to US$795 billion in 2024. Positive trends have been observed in all Member States. Eldar Alisherov dwelt separately on the achievements of the EAEU in creating common markets for goods, services, capital and labor, as well as on the future directions of the Union's development in accordance with the Declaration adopted by the Heads of State in 2023, which defines the vector of integration until 2030 and for the period until 2045, emphasizing the digitalization of economic processes, cooperation and unleashing the Union's technology potential, the establishment of a common transport and logistics space, the development of new integration areas with integration potential. The speaker also noted some bottlenecks in the integration interaction of the Member States, including a small share of mutual investments in total FDI in the EAEU (although for some countries these flows are significant, such as for Belarus and Kyrgyzstan), the lack of a stable long-term trend of income convergence in the Member States, as well as the fact that no institutional mechanisms have yet been created to facilitate convergence of the economies in terms of development. The parties continue to work in these areas. Information brochures on the social and economic development of the EAEU countries in the context of a decade of their participation in integration processes within the Union were also presented at the round table.
26 Jun 2025 Business circles of EAEU and Cuba discussed promising areas of trade and economic cooperation The Eurasian Economic Forum 2025 hosted a presentation dialogue "Cuba: Possibilities for Developing Economic Ties between the EAEU and Latin American and Caribbean countries". Experts participating in the event agreed that Cuba has a significant potential, which allows it to act as a link between the economic interests of the Eurasian Economic Union states and the Latin American countries. The Eurasian Economic Commission was represented at the event by Mikael Belluyan, Director of the Integration Development Department. "Cuba, as an Observer State at the EAEU, is well immersed in our agenda and is a key trade and economic partner of the Union in Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the EEC and the Government of Cuba, defining the main directions of cooperation. A joint commission on interaction is established. Representatives of Cuba take part in the meetings of EAEU bodies of all levels and propose their own initiatives on trade and economic cooperation with the Eurasian Five countries," Mikael Belluyan noted. The EEC representative emphasized the growing interest of businesses of the Union states in cooperation with Cuba in tourism, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, chemical industry, information and communication services. He invited representatives of the companies participating in the event to get involved in the work of the joint Commission of the EEC and Government of the Republic of Cuba at the next meeting in the second half of this year in Moscow. The Cuban delegation headed by Tania Aguiar Fernandez, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, presented a project of a logistics hub in Cuba, which is designed to facilitate transit and fulfill the export potential of the EAEU countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The representatives of Cuba shared aspects of the existing trade agreements in regional entities such as LAI, ALBA and CARICOM, and the possibilities they offer to foreign entrepreneurs setting up production in Cuba. Following the speeches, representatives of business circles of the EAEU countries discussed Cuban initiatives.
19 Jun 2025 Eldar Alisherov: "Our dialogue is designed to promote further growth of trade turnover between the EAEU countries and Myanmar" Priorities of trade and economic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and Myanmar were discussed at a meeting of the joint working group on interaction between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The meeting on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was co-chaired by Eldar Alisherov, EEC Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, and Kan Zaw, Myanmar Minister for Investment and External Economic Relations. The meeting participants addressed the issues of cooperation in trade, agriculture, competition policy and interaction of business circles. "Our dialogue on various aspects of the regulatory framework being developed within the EAEU is designed to promote the development of trade and economic ties between the Eurasian Five countries and Myanmar, as well as further growth of trade turnover, which has more than tripled since 2019," Eldar Alisherov stated. Among the key objectives of cooperation between the Commission and the Government of Myanmar identified by the EEC Minister at this stage are raising awareness of each other's trade and economic opportunities, as well as identifying bottlenecks in economic relations that need to be discussed within the working group. According to him, the high potential for cooperation between the parties "is predetermined by the Commission's active dialogue with the ASEAN region as a whole, as well as by the fact that Myanmar is essentially a 'bridge' between the EAEU and ASEAN, a trade 'crossroads' of major economies of Southeast Asia." In turn, Kang Zaw emphasized the importance of the dialogue with the EEC for boosting economic cooperation with all countries of the Union. In this regard, he highlighted a number of the most promising areas: digitalization, e-commerce, technology exchange in agriculture, and interaction within Myanmar's special economic zones. Myanmar Trade Minister Aung Naing Oo, Myanmar Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Minister Min Naung, and Aye Win, President of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, addressed the meeting. The parties called on the entrepreneurs of the EAEU and Myanmar for closer cooperation, including the establishment of an official dialogue between the EAEU Business Council and the relevant Myanmar business association. The next meeting of the joint working group will take place in 2026. The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar had been signed in 2023.

The Head of the EEC Integration Unit noted that the positive dynamics of trade, economic and business cooperation between the countries of the two unions is facilitated by a solid institutional framework of their interaction.  "In the future, the EAEU and ASEAN could think about creating a separate EAEU – ASEAN dialogue mechanism. It could have a pronounced business component based on the fact that business is the main beneficiary of trade and economic cooperation," Eldar Alisherov noted. The business dialogue was attended by Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of the Russia–ASEAN Business Council (moderator); Musa Adnin, Managing Director of Adinin Group, Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Brunei Darussalam; Kan Zaw, Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic; Alexey Kulapin, General Director of the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Russian Ministry of Energy; Nazir Razak, Founder of Ikhlas Capital, Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Malaysia; Vitaly Stepanov, Moscow Export Center CEO; Satwinder Singh, ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General.
